According to some reports in Spain both Arsenal winger Mesut Ozil and PSG winger Angel Di Maria are looking to return to Real Madrid.
The pair were shipped out to Arsenal and Manchester United respectively in 2013 and 2014. According to Marca, both have mentioned how happy they were at the Bernabeu and are now assessing their futures at their clubs.
Ozil moved to the Emirates in a club record £42.5million deal from Madrid in 2013. After a difficult first couple of seasons, Ozil’s emerged as one of Arsenal’s most important players and Arsene Wenger is desperate for the German to sign a new deal at the club. Ozil is still negotiating with Arsenal over a contract extension since he is only tied to Arsenal until 2018, so there is the chance he’ll return to the Spanish capital. The German World Cup winner has so far started in 17 games in all competitions this season, having scored 7 goals and assisting 4 in the process.
Other clubs are aware of Ozil’s contract situation and both the Manchester clubs and Chelsea, are interested in acquiring the services of the German player. Italian giants Juventus are also said to be monitoring the World Cup winner’s situation.
Di Maria, for his part, is not happy at PSG and has never refound the form that led to him being a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s Decima winning squad. The Argentine, also 28, signed for the French giants in August 2015 for £44m. But since leaving Real Madrid he has struggled to hit the form which saw Manchester United spend almost £60m and break the British transfer record.
At their time at the Spanish club Ozil won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup and Di Maria has won an extra Copa del Rey, the Uefa Super Cup and the Champions League.
Florentino Perez and the rest of the Los Blancos officials have taken notice the situation as the two are talented, creative players that’d be a boost to any squad.
