English Premier League giants Chelsea plan to negotiate contract talks with their ace winger Victor Moses in the coming weeks after it emerged he has become a transfer target for Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has been one of the surprises in the Premier League this season after becoming a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge.
Moses has flourished in a new wing-back role in Chelsea’s successful 3-4-3 formation which has seen the Blues climb to the top of the Premier League, sparking a seven-game winning run in the EPL.
Moses joined Chelsea from Wigan for £9million in 2012 but has been loaned to Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham respectively in the previous three seasons.
However, Antonio Conte deployed the Super Eagles forward as a right wing-back this season and since then he has scored three goals and provided an assist in 12 Premier League appearances so far, while also generally impressing with his level of play.
The Nigeria international also netted the winner in Saturday’s 2-1 London derby victory over Tottenham and was also named man-of-the-match for a second week in a row.
Barcelona have their issues at right back after losing Dani Alves this past summer, and the Catalan giants ultimately haven’t replaced the Brazilian veteran. And now according to reports by the Sky Sports, FC Barcelona scouted Moses on three separate events this season. The Catalan club purportedly observed his winger-to-wingback transition as embodying the flexibility and profundity they appreciate and want to include into their terms this season.
And showing his quality to the team and his sudden development as a top transfer target,Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo is now ready to ensure Moses’ long-term future with Chelsea to fend off the Catalan club.
It is claimed that, with three years still left to run on his current deal, the £45,000-a-week winger will take time to deliberate over the fresh terms in West London.
