Arsenal vs Bournemouth: Highlights, Lineup and Review

Arsenal vs Bournemouth was a closer encounter than it was expected

Arsenal stormed back in the winning ways when they beat a gutsy and inspired Bournemouth side 3-1 at the Emirates on Sunday. The win takes the Gunners within 3 points to the top of the table. Alexis Sanchez scored a brace and Walcott came back to scoring ways for the home team while Calum Wilson netted from the spot for the Cherries.

It was an intriguing match but the early exchanges were dominated by the home team. The passing and quality was superior from the London side and a mistake from Cook led to the first goal for the Gunners. Alexis Sanchez stole a weak back pass from Cook and scored past an advancing Federici to give Arsenal the lead. Just when it was seeming that it might be a walk in the park for Arsenal, the away side started to show their own skills. Bournemouth had a good 5 minutes spell before they were awarded a controversial penalty which was converted by Wilson to make it all squares on 23rd minute.

It was a return for Debuchy in the Arsenal team after a year but his misfortune continued as he suffered a hamstring injury and had to go off. The minnows should have taken the lead when Alan Smith headed a free header off target a couple of minutes later. Arsenal instigated themselves in the latter period of the first half, Alexis also struck the bar but it was 1-1 going into the break.

Arsenal got their lead back through Walcott, who headed the ball home to mark a memorable week for himself, who earlier became father of his second child as well. The visitors were cut apart again in the 90th minute when Ozil, Giroud and Sanchez combined and the Frenchman provided the ball to Sanchez to keep the result beyond doubt.

Eddie Howe’s side played some good football and they must be credited for their effort. For most of the game, it was a fierce competition between two sides who wanted to win, in the end Arsenal had the better personnel to win it for them. With the defeat, Bournemouth remain on 11th position but their manager must laud the performance.
