Transfer: Jose Mourinho chasing his former Chelsea man

According to reports by Daily Star, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will return to former club Chelsea in the January transfer window to sign Willian.

The Portuguese manager is said to be plotting a £25 million move for him in January who gave some of his best performances at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho. The 28-year-old Chelsea attacker would not shy away from a chance at working with him again, should he fail to reclaim his place in Antonio Conte’s first eleven.

The £40m-rated Brazil star has dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Antonio Conte.

A blend of injury, death of his mother and international commitment have seen the 28-year-old Brazil international lose his starting spot as Chelsea have gone on a six-game unbeaten run that has seen them top the Premier League table. Pedro has secured a regular spot in midfield in his place, whereas Victor Moses took the right-wing-back position in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation to send Willian down the pecking order.

Willian was an outstanding part of Mourinho’s Chelsea title winning team of 2014-15 and was the club’s player of the year last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting seven more in spite of the club’s struggling.

Willian signed a new four-year deal in July however, Manchester United are ready to examine Chelsea’s stance on the Brazilian. Mourinho rates the 28-year-old extremely and believes his free running skills and pace could be a vital asset as he attempts to rebuild Manchester United.

Manchester United have struggled throughout the season in case of scoring, in spite of signing players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Red Devils have only scored 17 times so far in the Premier League, which averages out to little over 1 a game. And Jose Mourinho thinks the Brazilian’s creativity and goal scoring ability can add the extra edge in the team for further progress.
