Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to get back to winning ways since their unforeseen scoreless draw against Southampton at St. Mary’s last week in order to keep pushing for the top spot of the Premier League table currently occupied by Chelsea who are a point ahead of Liverpool as well as Manchester City after securing six back to back league victories.

The Reds are set to host relegation threatened Sunderland this Saturday. After three back to back league defeats, David Moyes, the under pressure Black Cat manager, has managed to pull back two consecutive victories and his side is now placed 19th in the league table with 8 points from 12 games ahead of a precarious away trip considering the home form of ruthless Reds at renovated Anfield.

Liverpool vs Sunderland Injury and Suspension Update:

Liverpool are set to miss Adam Lallana for ‘the next 2/3 games’ as per the Reds’ boss after suffering a groin injury while England’s friendly fixture against Spain during international break. Forward Danny Ings has suffered another season ending knee injury but youngster Joe Gomez is back in full training along with Sheyi Ojo, as the young wingman went through a stress fracture during pre-season campaign.

Sunderland are set to miss a number of key players due to injuries and suspension. defender Paddy McNair suffered an ACL injury and expected to miss the remainder of the campaign. Lee Cattermole is out for four to five months with hip surgery. Former Reds forward Fabio Borini is a couple of weeks away after suffering a groin strain. Jack Rodwell and Jason Denayer are uncertain with hamstring strain. Sebastian Larsson and Jan Kirchhoff are working on to regain match fitness and the later might be available for selection this weekend. But defender Papiss Djilobodji is set to miss the Liverpool game following a marching order against Hull City last Saturday.

The Reds will rely on in-form Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and his fellow countryman Roberto Firmino to score goals along with Daniel Sturridge who is yet to score his maiden Premier League goal this campaign.

Sunderland, on the other hand, will depend on goal-machine Jermain Defoe as the veteran has already netted 7 league goals for the Black Cats in this campaign. Also, Wahbi Khazri who played a key role in their relegation survival last campaign, is expected to play his part in order to take something back from the game. Victor Anichebe, the other forward has scored three goals in last two games and expected to test the Reds backline with his physicality. But Moyes will mostly bank on young English custodian Jordan Pickford who is going to have a busy afternoon ahead.
