Arsenal will be looking to seal the top spot in Group A when they host PSG this Wednesday in the Champions League. The Gunners have paid the price for not finishing top in the group in the past seasons and they will be looking to turn the table this time around.
Arsenal would need a victory to ensure the top spot in the group and PSG will be looking to at least grind a draw to keep their hopes alive. Arsenal haven’t had the worst November so far as they used to have in the past years. Also the new deal signed by Hector Bellerin must have boosted their morale. PSG on the other hand are unbeaten in their last 9 games out of which they have won 8. The French giants don’t have the best of records against English opponents and they will be eyeing to change that.
Arsenal have Lucas, Santi Cazorla, Mertesacker out, Walcott and Ramsey have been included in the squad for tomorrow while Mathieu Debuchy is on the verge of coming back to the groove again.
PSG will be without Goalkeeper Alohonse Areola, they will also miss Kurzawa and Rabiot while Serge Aurier is banned from entering in England.
The Gunners boss is expected to call back Colombian David Ospina in goal, who was remarkable in the previous tie between these two teams. Bellerin’s injury means Jenkinson will get a taste of Champions League. Xhaka may partner Coquelin in midfield and Wenger may well be interested to give Giroud a start.
Kevin Trapp is expected to start for PSG in goal and Edinson Cavani must be back up front. Meunier, who scored to give them a last gasp victory at Basel can also start in absence of Aurier. Role of Veratti and Motta will be crucial as they will have to hold the crafty Arsenal midfield and shield the defense.
They met in the Match Day 1 of group stage where it ended as a 1-1 draw. Edinson Cavani scored early to give PSG the lead, and Alexis Sanchez scored to salvage a point for the Gunners. David Ospina was brilliant as he made around 4 spectacular saves to deny PSG.
The match will be telecast live in India on Ten 2 from 1.15 am IST (Thursday).
