Juventus, Inter Milan and reportedly Premier League giants Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC and Manchester United are all keen on signing Atalanta FC defender Mattia Caldara.
Mattia Caldara, 22, made his debut for La Dea back in 2013 and has since then played eight times for the club, managing to score three goals as well. Caldara also had two loan spells at second level clubs Trapani Calcio and A.C. Cesena making over 40 appearances in total for both the teams. He has played nine times for the Italian under 21s.
Serie A giants Juventus and their rivals Inter Milan are reportedly leading the chase to sign the young centre back, alongside Altalanta’s 19 year old talented midfielder Franck Kessie.
Kessie who has made 11 appearances so far has also managed to impress a lot. Scoring five goals this season with two assists in the opening few matches. As per his Squawka stats go the midfielder possesses a shot accuracy of 56% and 83% of average pass accuracy.
With Inter Milan struggling at 9th position in the league table Kessie and Caldara will be a good addition to Stefano Pioli’s squad but on the other hand this move will be a big loss for Atalanta FC as the club finds themselves sitting comprehensively in fifth position with 25 points on board.
Serie A champions Juventus are also interested in signing the duo. An offer from Serie A’s top team will be very hard to reject for Atalanta. The Bianconeri are looking to build an established Italian core based team and Caldara is being viewed as a replacement for one of the two ageing members of Juve’s defensive ‘BBC’ back line.
Meanwhile, numerous other European giants including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, AS Roma and Napoli are also interested in signing the talented duo.
United currently are facing a defensive crisis with Eric Baily, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw all sidelined with injuries and with Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind most likely to leave Old Trafford in January, Mourinho is going to have to re-shape his backline. Caldara definitely remains as an ideal choice. Mourinho is also looking to sign two other defenders in order to strengthen his defence. The Portuguese is currently looking to bring in Bayern Munich’s talented full back David Alaba, who is also wanted by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who managed the player during his time at Bayern.
The Red Devils are reportedly keeping a close look on Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk but they have to splash at least a total of £30million to bring in the Saints defender. United are also monitoring Alaba’s Austria team mate; Aleksander Dragovic. But, the Leverkusen defender could cost up to £20million to United.
Also according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea alongside Manchester City are keeping a close eye on Atalanta’s development talent, Caldara.
