Gameweek 12 saw only 24 goals. Chelsea went to the top of the league with a solitary goal win over Middlesbrough. Liverpool were held goalless by Southampton. Manchester United and Arsenal drew 1-1. Tottenham registered a comeback win over city rival West Ham. But most importantly Yaya Toure returned triumphantly and scored a brace to help Manchester City winning against Crystal Palace. Here are the best five goals of this week in the Premier League.
5) James Morrison vs Burnley
West Brom are famous for their defending but they put a rampage performance against Burnley, winning 4-0 in the process. James Morrison scored the second of them. He is always regarded as one of the best players of West Brom but injury halted his progress. But since returning last month, he is doing well and he scored a great goal. He played a wall pass with Solomon Rondon. Then, he drove past some defenders and scored with a grounder from outside the box. It was so well executed that Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton had conceded in the first post.
4) Yaya Toure vs Crystal Palace
Yaya Toure was back in the team and back on the scoresheet. He scored twice, but the first goal was excellent. He first played a one-two with Sergio Aguero, then another quick one-two with Nolito. Then he lashed a fierce shot from just inside the penalty box. It took a little deflection, but the full credit to the man from Ivory Coast.
3) Seamus Coleman vs Swansea
Seamus Coleman always contributes in attack and scores important goal or assist, being a defender. He scored a vital goal against Swansea in the dying minutes to salvage a point. Yannick Bolasie’s cross was not cleared properly and the ball ballooned up in the sky. Seamus Coleman then produced awareness and execution to head the ball into the top corner of the goal. It was not an easy thing to do. He had to head with accuracy and power from a fair distance so that he can beat the goalkeeper. Any striker will be proud of that goal.
2) Jermain Defoe vs Hull
Jermain Defoe has reached another milestone, this week. He scored his 150th goal in the Premier League and became joint 10th highest scorers in the history of this competition. And, he did it in style. Hull are not well-known for good defending. But, he literally toyed with that defence, dragged the defenders, beat them and lashed a wonderful shot to reach this achievement.
1) Roberto Pereyra vs Leicester
This week, the goal from Roberto Pereyra is really the goal of the week. Defending champion Leicester are Struggling in the Premier League. Watford punished them once again. The Argentine made a run from the left side. Everyone thought, he will pass it or cross. But, he cut inside and took a swerving shot with beautiful power. The former Juventus man used his speed, skills, awareness and precision to score this goal.
