Philippe Coutinho has emerged as the new star at the Anfield and so far the Brazilian magician has been outstanding for Liverpool. Naturally, the transfer stake of him has been high and it was reported that Barcelona are keen to sign him.
However, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has dismissed all the speculations that Barcelona may sign Coutinho in near future. Following Coutinho’s wonder goal for Brazil against Argentina, the Spanish media were making a loud claim that Catalans have made Coutinho their major target for transfer, but Balague in his weekly online Q and A about all things La Liga dismissed the idea.
“Barcelona love Coutinho but they have no strategy to sign him at the moment,” he said. “Neymar would like them to sign him and Coutinho himself is interested in the fact that Barcelona have followed him. But at the moment, it’s all media talk.”
So he made it clear any near move for Coutinho from Anfield is out of question and that may delight the Kops. Balague also said that as Coutinho can play as a forward or winger, he must not be the substitute of either Messi or Neymar. Also as he has no buyout clause, Barcelona will have to dig deep to avail their man, which means a series of negotiations. Balague thus thinks that the Spanish giants will splash their cash on someone else.
Now the question arises on whom should Barcelona must splash their money to strengthen their squad significantly.
- Barcelona may opt to sign Christian Pulisic, the new sensation of Borussia Dortmund. The USA player has been developing in an alarming rate and Barcelona can really approach for him as he is definitely one for the future.
- In terms of Striker options, Barcelona’s reserves are not that impressive. As Suarez is edging his 30s, the Catalans may well be looking to bring someone lethal in front of goal. Juventus forward Paulo Dybala can be a top signing for the club as he is young and prolific with amazing attributes in front of goal.
- Barcelona are great going forward, but not so good while defending. Their defense has been exposed in the recent past several times and Luis Enrique must be looking someone good enough to partner Pique. Also departure of Dani Alves has created a void in the Right back position and Sergi Roberto hasn’t really looked the right man at that position so far. Barcelona are speculated to make a move for Chelsea outcast Branislav Ivanovic, while some sources have said that they want Nathaniel Clyne as well. The latter will be a perfect signing for them as he is good in defending and also outstanding while going forward.
