According to the reports, Chelsea right wing back Branislav Ivanovic is linked with a January move to the Spanish Giants Barcelona.
The veteran Chelsea defender has failed to impress his new boss Antonio Conte and has been proved very inflexible in his system. As a result, he has lost his place in the first team of the former Premier League Champions.
The 32 year old Serbian skipper has featured only for seven times in the Premier League this season, his last start being in the month of September. However, recently he has played both matches for Serbia against Wales in the World cup qualifying draw.
After the match, the defender said, “I definitely think playing with three at the back for Serbia can help me with Chelsea. When you talk about Serbia, it’s definitely something that has changed our team when we start playing with three at the back and we’re improving in every game.”
“Of course, personally, it helps me because I can have minutes playing in that shape,” he added.
Reportedly, Conte’s team without Ivanovic have been going through such great run followed by five wins with no reply from the opponents. Ivanovic believes that he is very close to his fitness level and he will make his spot in the first team again. “Of course, he [Conte] is a top manager who was watching all of the Chelsea players,” he said. “I was injured and I’ve just got back in the [national] team. It’s good to be back on the pitch, I need minutes. It’s very important for me and I hope in the future I’ll be physically ready to be ready for [Chelsea].”
Despite his bad run along with injury for his current team, the Spanish Giants Barcelona are keen to play the trump with the help of this situation as the 32 year old defender is on their three men shortlist for January transfer window.
Barcelona are considering a move for Branislav Ivanovic, according to the gossip.

Previously Barcelona signed Aleix Vidal from Sevilla for €18m. But the 27 year old defender has failed so far to meet the expectations replacing the summer departure Dani Alves. Utility player Sergi Roberto has been used as the replacement so far this season, but the Barca boss Enrique is seeking a permanent replacement for the Brazilian right wing back.
Barcelona’s three man shortlist consists of Ivanovic, Juventus right back Stephan Lichtsteiner and Shakhtar Donetsk defender Darijo Srna. But with the current situation, the veteran Chelsea right back is leading the shortlist.
