Chelsea’s unsettled youngster Bertrand Traore is reportedly being targeted by Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais who is spending the current season on loan at Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax.
Traore is one of 38 players of Chelsea’s academy on loan at another club and Lyon reportedly hope they can snap up the striker when he becomes available in the summer. The 21-year scored four times in sixteen appearances last season for the Blues.
Ligue 1 side’s head of recruitment, Florian Maurice, has been closely monitoring the progress of Bertrand Traore for a while and was on the stand during a recent fixture against AZ Alkmaar a match in which the Chelsea loanee scored.
Lyon’s owner Jean-Michel Aulas had of late talked about the club’s procedure for the new transfer dealings, expressing their plan to search in more nations and markets, looking to sign new sensational prospects. And as all things considered, Bertrand Traore fits consummately to the profile of players the club is looking for.
The Burkina Faso international’s sudden loan move to Netherlands left Traore confused by his treatment at Chelsea and he might as well see the French top-flight as a better prospect for him compared to the Blues.
Speaking to the Evening Standard earlier this month he said: “I felt, and feel, that I am ready for Chelsea.”
He, however, expressed his surprise at how Chelsea treated him, “I did not see the loan [picture] overall. Why did I play so much in pre-season? Why was I allowed to participate so often under Guus Hiddink? Why do you players get no real chance at Chelsea?”
“It’s good for the composition of the squad if it is also home to a couple of talented youngsters,” he further added.
However, if Traore finishes off the season strongly at Ajax, he is most definitely going to be in Conte’s plans for next season as the Blues boss has shown that he’s ready to give opportunities to the young players.
