Scholesy had a number of stunners at the turn of the millennium and he showed he could mix thunderbolts with accurate finishes. In this goal he was involved in the build-up with some controlled passing . Teddy Sheringham flicked David Beckham’s pass on to Scholes, who floated a sublime chip over Panathinaikos goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis to seal a 3-1 Champions League win.
Bradford v Manchester United
This stunning volley remains one of the Premier League classics goals of all time. David Beckham’s delivery from the corner picked out Scholes just outside the box with an inch-perfect delivery before he unleashed a thundering volley to the back of the net. Bradford were languishing near the bottom of the table and defending was not their forte, but there was very little they could do to prevent this gem of a goal.
