Arsenal are in desperate search for a Premier League triumph and focused to end their 12 years of misery. The Gunners have started the campaign brightly with 24 points from 11 games and currently placed fourth in the league table, only two points behind league leaders Liverpool.
However, Arsenal are already in market to strengthen their squad in the upcoming January transfer window as they have reportedly scouted Greek youngster Panagiotis Retsos while playing for Olympiacos and also Greece U19s.
The 18 year old versatile defender has been impressive at senior level and appeared 9 times for the reigning Super League Greece champions during this campaign. He also captained the Greece U19s who defeated Wales counterparts by 2-0 in a recent fixture.
Despite being comfortable in any of the positions along backline, the teenager has been a huge success as a left-back for the Greek outfit.
Arsene Wenger, who has reiterated his interest to have an increased squad depth, is looking to add a new fullback who can be a long term successor of Spanish international Nacho Monreal. Monreal, already in his 30s, does not hold a long term future with the Gunners and Englishman Kieran Gibbs, the other left-back, is not relied much because of his inconsistency and lengthy absences due to successive injuries.
Retsos has been raised through the youth ranks of Olympiakos and represented his country in several youth ranks- U17s, U18s and currently in U19s. He is considered to be among the brightest talents of his generation and already being monitored by several top European sides.
Hector Bellerin, the 21 year old Spanish international, has been a regular in right-back for the Gunners since past two campaigns. It will be interesting to follow whether the Greek teenager can pursue his footsteps to establish himself as an Arsenal sensation if the move finally goes through.
