Transfer News : Arsenal and Liverpool eye Manchester United outcasts

Manchester United’s ‘not so good’ start in the Premier League may result departure of some of their players in the January window. Manager Mourinho said that he wants to change the mentality of some of his squad players, and it seems that some of the players will be under the axe in the coming transfer window.

Jose Mourinho is believed to offload 8 current Red Devils players to revamp his squad.  It says the likes of Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay are all under threat.

Bastian has been long overlooked by new Manchester United manager and likes of Depay, Schneiderlin and Darmian hasn’t established their worth at Old Trafford. Nonetheless, the speculations regarding Smalling and Shaw have already alerted two of their rivals. Liverpool are interested in Shaw and Arsenal are reported to be looking to bring Smalling at The Emirates.

Luke Shaw was regarded as a prized asset when he joined Manchester United from Southampton, but his injury problems has prevented his development and Mourinho wants him to seek pastures new. Klopp is understood to be interested in the 21 year old Left back and wants him to land at Anfield. But the rivalry between the two clubs may act as a spoiler for the move, as United may not want their player to end up at Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger, on the other hand, is a long time admirer of England international Smalling. He also wanted to sign him when Thomas Vermaelen was poised for a move at United, but it didn’t materialize.

Now, if the opportunity arrives this January, The Daily Star understands that Arsene Wenger will go for the 26 year old centre back to strengthen his back line. Arsenal and Manchester United are not the best of friends and we can speculate that The Gunners will have to dig big to land their target, specially when Mourinho is at United’s helm at the moment.
