Arsenal always had the reputation to bring and promote youth academy products.
Since early days the club has emphasized on blossoming raw young talents and provide them the big stage. And Arsene Wenger’s guidance and vision just has enhanced that reputation for the Gunners. But it seems that Arsene may be able to hand an opportunity to the second generation of Pires family if he stays at the helm and of course, the player stays at the club.
We are talking here about Theo Pires, son of Arsenal legend Robert Pires. Theo joined Arsenal academy this May and he already has taken part in the under-9 games for the Gunners. But Pires is proud of his son because his kid has been given the captaincy role for the under-9 level.
Pires posted a picture on Instagram showing his son wearing the captain’s armband and his photo had the caption, “Captain Theo! Well done U9 ! You did well today”.
Pires had posted another photo of his son the previous week after French football magazine L’Equipe ran a feature on Theo, adding: “Bravo Theo”.
Robert Pires, the invincible Frenchman is regarded as a very popular figure among the Gunners supporters. He won two league titles and two FA Cups with Arsenal and will be happy if his son emulates his path in the coming days, at least the start of young Theo has made his father proud.
The latest of the academy products that have shined in an Arsenal shirt are Alex Iwobi, Hector Bellerin and Francis Coquelin, who all are regular at Arsenal first team. So there is ample opportunity for young Theo Pires to develop himself as an Arsenal kind in the coming few years. Also Cesc Fabregas has been the youngest to play for Arsenal in 16 years 177 days, so Arsene Wenger will likely have to stay at the helm for at least 7 years to hand the Pires junior his Arsenal appearance.
