It is reported by Corriere Dello Sport that Manchester United are hoping to get rid of some of their struggling players throughout the following two transfer windows. Mourinho appeared to make an underhand criticism at Smalling following the Red Devils’ 3-1 win over Swansea City, proposing that he was unhappy with players not inspiring themselves through the torment boundary for their team-mates.
Smalling has been a key part of the United side in late seasons, giving a protective linchpin under former boss Louis van Gaal and initially with Eric Bailly under Mourinho this season. But his shaky performance against Chelsea and recent injury, have made him undesirable to Mourinho.
And now if reports to be believed, Smalling could be set to leave with two other struggling team-mate at Old Trafford in Blind and Darmian.
In the report, it’s expressed the Serie A side were keen on marking Blind in the summer and could reignite their enthusiasm for the Netherlands international. While the former Ajax man is a useful squad player, able to perform as a centre-back and left-back, there have been questions about his speed and physicality as per Mourinho’s view.
Meanwhile, Memphis is very much out of the picture at Old Trafford. He arrived with a lot of hype following a sensational season in Holland with PSV Eindhoven. But his lack of consistency and a dramatic dip in form has seen him fall further down the pecking order and he is now seemingly surplus to requirements. Although the Dutchman is the most likely of the quartet to be put up to loan to Premier League rivals Everton as per recent reports.
Inter have a good relationship with Jose Mourinho after the last spent a fruitful period at San Siro from 2008-2010. Mourinho has cozy associations with VP Javier Zanetti, sporting director Piero Aid, and new director Stefano Pioli. And this close tie can be useful for Inter to lure away some of them.
The new project at Inter Milan taking after the Chinese takeover is yet to take off. The Italian giants are as of now mulling in ninth spot in the Serie A table and With the appointment of new manager Stefano Pioli, the Nerazzurri are now ready to bounce back in every way possible to regain their old glory.
