Alex Iwobi will stay at Arsenal for many years, and for that he will reject even Barcelona, says the player’s father who spoke to AfricanFootball.com and gave his view.
Alex Iwobi is the latest jewel who has emerged from Arsenal academy and has established himself in the first time within a short period time. The Nigerian got a break into the team last season and has been extremely well. Iwobi, 20, has become a first-team regular at Arsenal and has caught the eye as part of a Gunners’ side unbeaten since the opening day of the season and two points off the top of the Premier League table.
“At this point in time, he is at the right place,” the Nigeria international’s father, Chuka Iwobi, said. “He’s doing well at Arsenal, but should any club come for him now, the answer would certainly be no.”
Chuka Iwobi also made it clear that it’s not about money now for Alex. So even if call comes from club like Barcelona, his son will reject them to stay at the Emirates. He wants his son to concentrate on his career right now and says that Alex must play hard and make a progress to the next stage. The winger’s father is also proud of his son’s humility as people say to him. There is no doubt that arrogance is a hindrance for someone’s progression and it’s important that Alex keeps his feet to the ground and improve on his gameplay.
The Nigerian has his connections with African legend Jay Jay Okocha, as he is the nephew of the legend. Recently Mesut Ozil also said that Iwobi’s play resembles with Okocha.
Arsenal will be hoping from their young star to be a bit more consistent and that can really make Iwobi someone who can really stay for many years at the Arsenal. Even his father thinks so. He signed off saying, “I see him being with Arsenal for very many, many years.”
