Winter is coming and the much awaited transfer saga is soon to be resumed in January during winter transfer window. Number of clubs are already in market, so is Liverpool who have reportedly scouted young Argentine winger Cristian Pavon in recent months.
Danny Ings’ season-ending knee injury along with star winger Sadio Mane’s unavailability during upcoming African Cup of Nations 2017 in January has forced Klopp to think about reinforcement:
“It’s not about about how many strikers. Three strikers is enough, I think. But when Sadio is away we will be without a winger. We do not have many wingers, I would say. Roberto Firmino could play as a kind of a winger which would then just give us two strikers. It is a long way to go from January onwards and that month of January is busy.”
Sardar Azmoun of FC Rostov, dubbed as ‘Iranian Messi’, was linked to the club earlier this week. The striker has performed splendidly in Russian Premier League and has been a subject of interest from several European outfits. But if we consider the Liverpool manager’s quote, he is rather looking for someone who can primarily operate in wings. Cristian Pavon fits in his requirements who has been operating in the right hand side of Boca’s attack and has been linking well with veteran Carlos Tevez and in-form forward Dario Benedetto.
The 5 ft 7 in wideman is known for his gifted skills, pace, dribbling and crossing accuracy. He has been acknowledged for his positioning and composure inside penalty area as well. His goal against bitter rivals River Plate in one of the most prestigious as well as controversial derbies has made him a fans’ favorite already.
The Reds have witnessed a number of South Americans who have succeeded and earned a lot of admiration among the fan base- Luis Suarez, Javier Mascherano and most recently Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are to name a few. Considering Jurgen Klopp and his previous history of relatively unknown signings, Pavon is a realistic and fitting transfer target for the Merseysiders.
Below, take a look at some of the skills of the new Liverpool target Cristian Pavon:
