Unlike the usual practice, Arsenal chose to spent some money during the last summer, when they bought reputed international stars like Granit Xhaka, Skhodran Mustafi and budding talents Rob Holding and Takuma Asano. And as we are slowly progressing towards the winter transfer window, the Emirates side are preparing new bids to strengthen their squad further.
Arsenal are more famous for promoting young talents and that is certainly one thing that separates them from the usual trend of splashing hefty amounts of money to buy famous and well established stars.
And now, Swedish international Peter Gwargis is the latest target of the Premier League giants.
Gwargis is a youngster of the country most famous for a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Currently a member of Swedish side Husqvarna, the 16 year old is yet to break into the senior team of the club. But, he has already proved his worth while playing for the youth side of Sweden. He is, in fact, being called the “next Mesut Ozil”. As a consequence of his brilliant display in national colours, reportedly, he has got the chance to practice with the first team of Husqvarna.
Moreover, Gwargis has attracted attentions from a lot of big clubs, including the Gunners. Right now, the youngster is having trials with Dutch side Feyenoord and if things go well, he will find a new club very soon. And it can be one of PSV, Feyenoord or Arsenal.
Peter Gwargis’ representative, Walid Faour, revealed to Swedish outlet Fotbolltransfers.com: “Both Arsenal and PSV have sent invitations, but now Feyenoord are the most interested.”
“I’m in Holland right now for a visit to Feyenoord with Peter Gwargis. Peter has trained with both U17 and U19s. This is a left-footed offensive football player who many here believe will be a new Ozil,” he further added.
Arsenal have been in a nice touch this season, winning seven of their eleven league games. They are currently at the fourth spot in the table – which, some would say, their favourite position ever – only two points adrift of the league leaders Liverpool. In the UEFA Champions League too, they continued their form and have already secured a place in the knockout stages.
Naturally, Arsene Wenger should be extremely happy at the moment, but at the same time, he would want to ensure that the team end the season on a happy note. In addition, there are chances that he would leave the club at the end of this season and he would want the club to have a hoard of youngster in their ranks. For both of the above, a few new recruits are well on the cards for the Premier League giants. It would be interesting to see if Wenger decides to go ahead with this transfer of Peter Gwargis.
