Brazil squad, schedule and talking points ahead of their World Cup Qualifiers

Brazil will be resuming their World Cup Qualification campaign as International break returns. The road to Russia in 2018 seems to be more competitive and stern in the CONBEMOL division and the Selecao have two important ties ahead of them.

Setting the Scene:

Brazil are currently leading the qualification table and are on 21 points. But Uruguay, Ecuador and Colombia are not far behind. So, Brazil must be looking for a good outing in these matches to cement a cushion at the top of the table.

Brazil won their previous matches against Venezuela and Bolivia 2-0 and 5-0 respectively.

Matches and Schedule:

Brazil will be facing their rivals Argentina at home and then they will travel to Lima to face Peru.

Brazil vs Argentina,  10th November (05.15 am,11th Nov in IST)

Peru vs Brazil,          15th November (07.45 am, 16th November in IST)

Squad:

Brazil’s coach Tite opted for a 24 men squad for the upcoming matches.

Goalkeeper: Alisson(Roma), Weverton(Atletico Paranaense), Alex Muralha(Flamengo)

Defenders: Dani Alves(Juventus), Thiago Silva(PSG), Marcelo(Real Madrid), Miranda(Inter), Filipe Luis(Atletico Madrid), Marquinhos(PSG), Gil(Shandong Luneng), Rodrigo Caio(Sao Paulo), Fagner(Corinthians)

Midfielders: Willian(Chelsea), Coutinho(Liverpool), Paulinho(Guangzhou Evergrande), Fernandinho(Manchester City), Giuliano(Zenit), Renato Augusto(Beijing Guaon), Casemiro(Real Madrid), Lucas Lima(Santos)

Forwards: Neymar(Barcelona), Roberto Firmino(Liverpool), Douglas Costa(Bayern Munchen), Gabriel Jesus(Palmeiras)

Players to Watch:

Neymar undoubtedly is their main man to watch for. The 24 year old has already scored 49 goals for his country and will be looking to add another one for the landmark of 50 goals.

Also the new sensation, 19 year old Gabriel Jesus has been electrifying and eyes will be on him as well. He so far has scored 4 goals for Brazil in as many appearances.

Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool has been exquisite to watch and the Brazil faithfuls will be hoping him to carry the team in the midfield with his creative play.

The PSG pair of Thiago Silva and Marquinhos may well be their centre backs and Alisson, the Roma keeper is expected to shield the goal for them.

Match Preview and Predictions:

The match against Argentina will not be a walk in the park as the visitors are outside the top 5 and will be pushing for a positive result. Also return of Lionel Messi will boost their morale and they really have some world class players. Also added tension of a Brazil-Argentina match may get the better of inexperienced Brazil players. But I think the Brazilians will do enough to get a draw. Neymar, Coutinho and Willian will play a pivotal part for them and they will have to step up if the home team has to do well.

Brazil 1-1 Argentina

Peru are struggling at 8th spot with just 11 points but they are an adventurous side who can cause the Brazil defense problems. But the Selecao have enough quality to beat them and we predict it will be an away win for them.
