Hector Bellerin has ended his speculation saga by signing a six year bumper deal with Arsenal. The right back has committed his long term future to Arsenal, by penning the new deal.
Bellerin has put pen to paper on a deal worth in the region of £100,000 per week, inclusive of bonuses, making him one of the top earners at the club. It’s a massive sigh of relief for the Gunners as they have successfully shrugged off all the interest from Manchester City and Barcelona and keep hold of their young sensation.
Manchester City were interested in him and Pep Guardiola was looking to table a bid next summer, but he has to look somewhere else now. So is the case for Barcelona, who were very keen to bring their boy back to Camp Nou.
Bellerin got his break in the first team in 2014 and since then he has been a regular in Arsene Wenger’s side, the young defender has developed in leaps and bounds and now regarded one of the best young talents in Europe.
Bellerin joked last month he would refuse to answer the phone if Barcelona called and last week made it clear he sees his future at Arsenal, where he has established himself as first-choice right-back.
“If I wanted to play [at Barca] I would have stayed there,” the 21-year-old said. “I was very happy when Arsenal showed interest in me and I decided to come here. I’m not looking back, I’m just looking to help Arsenal,” he added.
The Spanish international was a hot topic of the transfer gossips but now it has put an end to that. Also Arsenal have come out of their ‘Selling Club’ mentality as well, as they have proved that the Gunners have the ability now to keep hold their best talents, which they failed to do in previous years.
As Bellerin deal is completed, Arsenal now will be looking to settle the matters of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
