Manchester United and Chelsea are watching out for young Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg ahead of a possible January offer, as per reports.
The 19-year-old Dutch has broken into the Dutch Giants first team this season and scored five goals in the Eredivisie League till date. Dubbed as ‘the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic’, the young Ajax striker was the subject of interest from Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge in midweek.
Dolberg’s six-foot-one-inch height is already a handful for defenders and the striker is an accurate finisher with powerful shots. He got the attention with a staggering strike against PEC Zwolle prior this season, as his exertion slammed against the bar twice on its way in.
Red Devils’ manager Jose Mourinho sent their head of global scouting Marcel Bout to watch Dolberg in real life play while Dutch scout De Visser who is close is Chelsea was also at the Amsterdam Arena to watch him play versus Celta Vigo in a Europa League tie.
And the youth did not disappoint, as he scored in Ajax’s 3-2 triumph over Celta Vigo.
The 19-year-old forward, who was bought from Danish outfit Silkeborg a year ago, has built up himself as the first choice central forward for the Dutch giants.
He scored on his Ajax debut in a vital Champions League qualifier against PAOK in July, having been advanced straightforwardly from the club’s Under-19 side to the senior set-up without playing a solitary competitive match for the reserve side.
Manchester United need a productive striker for the replacement of 35-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic and 30-year-old Wayne Rooney as Mourinho looks to the future and Dolberg positively resembles an extraordinary talent who can be their solution.
Meanwhile, Manchester City could give some stern rivalry to Dolberg’s signature as they too had their Dutch scout in participation on the stands during the Celta Vigo tie.
