Transfer News: Barcelona eye Manchester United teenager

Manchester United face a fight to keep hold of their teenage sensation Angel Gomes, amid interest from Barcelona.

Gomes joined United in 2014 after a great trial and performances so far have made him one of the most promising youth to develop as of late. The Manchester united youth player made his U18 debut when he was only 14 years old. Keeping in mind United failed to reach the last phases of the Premier Cup in 2015, Gomes was the standout amongst all the others as he received the Most Valuable Player award in the competition.

The youth captain has been stunning heads at Carrington for some time as he increased his media attention by scoring a hat-trick Everton’s academy side coming off the bench in September. He was also the most youngest player to score a goal for Manchester United’s foundation in 15 years at only 15 years and 11 months old, and the third-most youngest ever. The youth is qualified to play for Portugal, although he has picked to play for England and is right now the captain for Three Lions’ U17 group.

An exceptional player prospect, Gomes has a wide range of passing and is comfortable with the ball at his both feet. The player has been showcasing his ability since the begining of the 2016-2017 season as he pulled the strings in No.10 role and scored goals and assists at the young level. A captain of the England Under-16 group, the young Englishman is considered to have a great deal of potential and on the off chance that he continues to enhance and handle the pressures of the game, he will be a force to reckon.

Prior this year, Nicky Butt, the former United academy boss, said Gomes was among the most energizing prospects at the club while talking to the Times.

“I look at the kids and they’re miles better than I was at their age – technically,” the former United player told. “We’ve got some unbelievable players. Angel Gomes is a young talented player we’ve massive hopes for.”

Until 2018, Gomes is on a scholarship at United , but the club fear the youngster could be enticed by a move away to Barcelona if they make a firm move for the playmaker.
