Amidst all the controversial debates and speculations about Louis Van Gaal’s sacking, here is something to cheer about for the Manchester United fans. The club officials have now confirmed that the Dutch winger Tahith Chong will join in July.
This transfer was about to happen. Tahith Chong, a 16-year-old talented winger, has been playing for Feyenoord and rumours started to link him with a move to the Old Trafford side for quite some time now. He actually played at the Premier League club’s Carrington complex last summer, when Feyenoord’s Under 17 side came to take part in the Premier Cup. And his performance was top notch. Quite expectedly, Chong attracted the attention of the Manchester United scouts and gradually, a deal was there to sign.
Earlier in the year, the Dutch youngster revealed that he would consider whether or not he should remain at the Eredivisie outfit. And after playing at the Carrington complex, he knew that his future would be great if he joins Manchester United, thirteen times Premier League champions till date. In particular, Chong was greatly impressed by the facilities and the training complex at United.
Earlier this year, Chong also revealed, while talking to Elf Voetbal, “It was my intention to stay at Feyenoord, but no plan was made for me.”
“It was my intention to stay at Feyenoord, but no plan was made for me. When I said I wanted to leave, they made a plan. That was too late,” he further added.
Reportedly, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea were also monitoring Tahith Chong but he has now decided to join United. The winger has been included in the Netherlands under-17 side and played his part in the European Under-17 Championship recently. He mostly prefers to play in the left flank and has a keen eye for the goal. While it may take some time, Chong has the potential to make his mark in the top tier.
Do you think Tahith Chong will be a valuable addition to the Manchester United squad?
