Transfer Rumours: Dortmund Defender can be reunited with his former boss at Liverpool

Neven Subotic may rejoin his former boss Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Various reports in Germany and England suggest that Klopp is trying to bring his trustworthy soldiers in Liverpool.

Subotic, the Serbian international, played in Mainz under Klopp. Then Klopp joined Dortmund and Subotic followed him there. So, there is a great relation between Klopp and Subotic. Subotic won two Bundesliga, one DFB-Pokal  and reached UEFA Champions League Final under Klopp. The German tactician was the mastermind to form a lethal center back pair of Subotic and Hummels.

Now, Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool in October. He feels the need to make reinforcements into centre-back position. Joe Gomez is out of this season due to injury. Kolo Toure’s age is not on his side. Martin Skrtel is inconsistent. Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho are the only options in center back. They did not perform well regularly and they have already incurred injuries couple of times this season. But after the injury news of Skrtel, Liverpool are desperate to boost their center back options.

Subotic has become second choice in Dortmund now behind Hummels and Sokratis under Thomas Tuchel. The Serbian defender only played two matches in Bundesliga. So, he may opt for a move away in search of a regular start.

It is rumoured that he will be available in around £ 3.5m. His contracts in Dortmund will end in summer of 2018.

He is 27 and he has still plenty to offer. His arrival at Liverpool may help both him and the club.

Currently, Subotic is the holder of a German passport, a Bosnian passport, an American passport and a Serbian passport. He initially featured for United States under-17s and under-20s before deciding to play for Serbia at senior level.
