Premier League Gameweek 17: Goal of the Week

A total of 28 goals were scored in Premier League Gameweek 17 and we present you the best three of the lot.

Four goals were in contention to make it to the top three. Though Yaya Toure’s strike against Arsenal was a gorgeous one, we excluded it based on the impact. Now, let’s find out which finally comes out to be the goal of the week.

3. Theo Walcott (Arsenal) vs Manchester City:

After Kevin De Bruyne missed out a golden opportunity to get his team in front, it was Walcott’s turn to change things at the other end of the pitch. The English forward took possession from a Mesut Ozil pass and turned to his right to produce a powerful curler to beat Joe Hart comfortably. From start to the finish, it was a treat to watch.

2. Jordan Ayew (Aston Villa) vs Newcastle United:

In this bottom of the table clash, both teams were searching for valuable points. Aston Villa were trailing by one goal and desperately looking for the equalizer. Jordan Ayew provided that lifeline through a right-footed screamer. It was a tad difficult than Walcott’s one because of the angle. The Ghanaian created some space and worked out the angle pretty well to make it impossible for Magpies shot-stopper Rob Elliott.

1. Lee Chung-Yong (Crystal Palace) vs Stoke City:

Everyone is talking about the rise of Leicester, but no one noticed that Crystal Palace is sitting just below the fourth spot only because of goal-difference. With the game tied at 1-1, the Eagles were pushing for a winner and Lee Chung-Yong’s wonder strike from distance provided them the three points they needed. The South Korean international ran towards a bouncing ball and unleashed a volley to the top corner of the net beating goalkeeper of the season Jack Butland.

This strike was simply unbelievable and it gets our vote to be the goal of the week.
