Transfer News : Liverpool eye Two Serie A Defenders to solve their Problems

Jurgen Klopp

After a shock defeat to Watford and an injury to Martin Skrtel, Liverpool should seriously look up to strengthen their defensive options.

Jurgen Klopp’s honeymoon days are over and here comes his real test in Premier League. The Merseysiders have lost two of their last three matches and conceded seven goals in the process. The most worrying part of their defeat is that they have failed to win against minnows like West Brom, Newcastle United and Watford.

The most recent trip to Vicarage Road exposed Mamadou Sakho’s problems, when tested by Deeney and Ighalo quite a few times during the match. Martin Skrtel’s injury from this fixture will be a major blow for the Reds. They have already lost Dejan Lovren for long term. Now, Klopp had to employ Lucas Leiva at center-back for more than an hour in the game as he was reluctant to bring Kolo Toure on.

At this moment of crisis, Klopp is searching for options in the January transfer window. The first name to come up is Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo. Inter have put on an impressive defensive performance this season and are now sitting at the top of Serie A table. They have conceded only 9 goals in 16 League appearances.

According to Italian source, the Colombian defender will be available at £22 million. Despite having strong interest, Klopp is hesitant to splash so much money on a defender. Now, as his hands are tied because of injuries, he may look to Murillo to solve Liverpool’s defensive problems.

Apart from Murillo, Liverpool also keep an eye on Juventu defender Caceres. The Uruguyan central back has struggled to find first team appearances for the Bianconeri this season. The former Barcelona player will be available at a cheap price and the deal has no obstacle to go through.
