Arsenal’s intent to strengthen their attacking positions have been boosted by Inter’s willingness to sell talented midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
Previously, Wenger was in pursuit of Nolito, who has produced some impressive performances for Celta Vigo this season. But, the Spanish forward has recently expressed his interest to sign a contract extension at his current club. This means that the deal for the 29 year old attacker is off now.
When one door closes, another door opens up. Over last few seasons, the Gunners have held a strong interest in Marcelo Brozovic. The Croat midfielder was a valuable addition to Niko Kovac’s 2014 Fifa World Cup squad. He is regarded as one of the most promising box-to-box midfielders in Europe right now.
Brozovic has been instrumental in Inter’s brilliant Serie A run this season. After change of owners in 2013, the Italian giants have woken up now and they are comfortably sitting at the top of Serie A table with a four point lead.
Marcelo Brozovic is one of the key members behind the resurgence of Inter MIlan. He is now playing there on loan from Dinamo Zagreb. Inter have an option to buy the midfielder which they are going to explot this January at the expense of £ 8m.
But, Arsenal are likely to interfere in this business. The scouts of the North London club have tracked this youngster since his Dinamo Zagreb days and last summer, there was a significant chance of him moving into the Premier League.
Now in changed scenario, Wenger has considered investing into the midfield to see off injury threats and is ready to offer Inter £11.9m for Brozovic. The deal will obviously happen after Inter gets the striker permanently from Zagreb.
Trivia: Marcelo Brozovic opted to wear number 77 for Inter Milan which was last worn by Ghanaian legend Suley Muntari.
