Louis Van Gaal is facing a lot of problems in his side’s attacking prowess and he seems to have found the answer in Goncalo Guedes.
Manchester United have recently been slammed a lot for their inability to score goals. The graceful club from Manchester with a glorious history is now in a position to face Midtjylland, a Danish side which was formed in 1999 – the famous treble winning year of the Red Devils.
The fans are really not happy with the football their club is playing. Van Gaal’s philosophy has not been received well by the Old Trafford faithfuls as they got tired of watching boring football from a team with a history of lively game-play. At this particular situation, the Dutch manager should seriously consider some attacking reinforcements to turn things around.
As reported by German newspaper Bild, Benfica’s winger Goncalo Guedes has attracted United scouts often this season and the management is willing to splash some money on the 19 year old youngster.
This talented teenager hit the headlines when he became the youngest Portugese to score in Champions League. Local pundits have tipped him to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo. Big clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also in the race to snatch Goncalo Guedes.
Due to his sparks in the Liga and the Champions League, Guedes was called up for national squad in November. Manchester United may not bring back Cristiano Ronaldo, but they can luckily find the right kid to create the future one.
Importantly, luck is not the thing Manchester United can rely upon right now. They have tried a lot with youngsters like Lingard, Depay and Martial but sadly, those options did not pay off as expected. If they are willing to take title challenge seriously, they don’t need Goncalo Guedes but need some proven talent up front who can make a mark in the Premier League right away.
