Another exciting game week of the Barclays Premier League comes to an end and it was full of surprises as usual. Actually surprises in EPL are no surprises.
Manchester City dropped 3 points in Britannia Stadium as Stoke City came out with brutal force from the start. Even the deadly City could not do it in a cold night in Stoke. Chelsea continued their poor form and lost to relegation threatened AFC Bournemouth and Liverpool faced a shocking defeat against the struggling Newcastle United at the St. James Park.
Nevertheless, despite of a boring 0-0 draw between the Manchester United and West Ham United 20 goals were scored in this game week and there were some impressive performances to look up to. So, we put up the best XI of this game week based on their performance only in this game week.
Team of the Week : Boruc – Simpson – Reid – Dummett – Darmian – Kante – Barry – Shaqiri – Mahrez – Arnautovic – Ighalo
Formation : 4-2-3-1
Manager : Claudio Ranieri
Artur Boruc of AFC Bournemouth was the easiest pick in the goal. He saved four shots on target, was brilliant on one-on-one situations and pretty confident in the set pieces too. He was the main reason for which Bournemouth kept a clean sheet and stole 3 points from Stamford Bridge.
Defense was a no brainer too. Winston Reid was an automatic choice on the centre back position for the three crucial tackles he made. He never really allowed space to Manchester United. If he had not played that well, West Ham could have lost again at Old Trafford. Dummett was the main reason for which Benteke and Firmino were never spotted in the game and his hustle-plays made it difficult for Liverpool to build any attacking move. Foxes had clean sheet. You have heard it right. A fantastic display from right back Danny Simpson kept all the threats from Swansea at bay. The scoreline may not tell the whole story, but if it was not Darmian, then Manchester United could have easily lost to West Ham United.
After making it to the Team of the month of November, Kante booked his place in the team of the week by showing his defensive and counter attacking skills. Gareth Barry found his touch after a long time. Had Lukaku taken all the chances created by Barry, Everton could have won the game.
After a disappointing start to his Stoke career, Shaqiri booked his spot in the team of the week after assisting two goals against Manchester City. Mahrez is in the form of his life and his hat trick gave him the spot in the team of the week. Marko Arnautovic was an easy pick after the 2 important goals he scored to stun the title challengers Man City early in the second half.
Odion Ighalo showed some impressive skills and body strength in the 2-0 victory against Norwich City. He will play as the lone striker in our team of the week.
This was our pick for the Team of the Week. What are your picks? Comment below and let us know.
