In the aftermath of the North London derby, Wenger has given credits to Mesut Ozil for the one point his team have earned. The German play-maker was the only exception in an otherwise lacklustre performance from the gunners.
While giving the customary post-match interview, the Arsenal boss praised Mesut Ozil for adding “Leadership qualities and responsibility” to his game. The Frenchman believes that Ozil had grown into a great player and he is really pleased with the development.
Sunday night was a record-making day for Mesut Ozil at the Emirates. He became the only player in Premier League history to assist in six consecutive games in one season. Former Arsenal star Fabregas achieved a similar kind of feat but out of his six assists, three came for the Gunners and the other three came for Chelsea, three years apart.
It’s that happy time in Arsenal that the club’s record signing is delivering what he is expected to do. The former Los Blancos midfielder has now more PL assists to his name than any other player since he joined the north London club back in 2013.
Now, as Wenger believes that Ozil has become a leader in the field, the Arsenal faithfuls think that it’s not too far for the “Assist King” to wear the Gunners’ armband.
