It has been only one week since Jurgen Klopp took charge of Liverpool, replacing Brendan Rodgers in the process. The decision was made by the Liverpool management after the Reds failed to win against their arch-rival, Everton.
It has not been a great season for Liverpool. They started off quite good, by defeating Stoke City and Bournemouth by the narrowest margin in their first two matches. However, their form took a hit in the following matches. In the last six matches, Rodgers’ team drew against Arsenal, Norwich and Everton; and suffered humiliating defeats against West Ham (0-3) and Manchester United (1-3). Only match they managed to win was against Aston Villa and that too was a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
Naturally, Brendan Rodgers had to take the blame for the poor display by his players and the management took no time to sack him. However, it may come as a surprise that Rodgers may return to Premier League much sooner that you could have imagined!
According to reports, the former Liverpool boss could make an immediate return to the Premier League with Aston Villa, a team that have been suffering a great, of late. The Midlands club won their first match of the season against Bournemouth and have got only a single point since then.
Villa’s appalling start to the season includes six defeats and a draw and they are currently sitting in the relegation zone. Quite naturally, current boss Tim Sherwood is under huge pressure and according to the Sun, he has been given only two games to save his job, against Chelsea and Swansea. Should he not win one of those matches, he will be fired and Rodgers will replace him.
Can Sherwood save his job? Or, are we going to see Brendan Rodgers in his new role, in a couple of weeks? Well, only time could tell!
