MS Dhoni, you will surely be missed

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided to retire from the test cricket for good and this decision took everyone by surprise. Dhoni, arguably the greatest captain India ever had, played 90 tests and scored 4876 runs at an average of 38.09. His highest score of 224 came against Australia in 2013 and till date, that remains the highest individual score by an Indian captain and by any wicketkeeper-captain ever. On the other hand, he is definitely the best among all the Indians when it comes to his abilities behind the stumps. He retired with 294 dismissals which is the highest among Indians and fifth highest overall. Also, he sits third in the list of maximum number of stumpings in tests.

A man born to break records with ease, Dhoni has the world record of longest unbeaten run in tests (11) from his debut. He captained the country in 60 tests and India won 27 of them, highest ever by an Indian captain. He also took Team India to the zenith when India became number 1 in Tests under his leadership. Among other records, during Dhoni-era, India reached their highest ever innings total (726 against Sri Lanka), recorded their biggest ever win in terms of runs (320 against Australia) and had an amazing record of remaining unbeaten in 90% of the tests at home.

Undoubtedly, every Cricket lover of the country was taken aback by his decision and right away, MS Dhoni was trending in Twitter. Many cricketers and other sports lovers, whether they played with him, against him or simply watched him play, showed their respect for this man. That list includes Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Matthew Hayden, Suresh Raina, Harsha Bhogle and many others. We present some of the tweets below, including an interesting one where someone compared Dhoni to The Dark Knight, taking reference from the famous Christopher Nolan movie.
