After the international break, Premier League returns to our life once again and here are six interesting facts to start the week.
1. Manchester United : Turn back the clock
The Red Devils have the record of most number of away wins in the Premier League era but unfortunately, under new coach Louis Van Gaal, they are yet to manage their first away win this season. The Dutchman will surely look forward to follow the history as United roll up to the Emirates on Saturday.
2. West Bromwich Albion : Always Right!
This season, West Brom is the only team which has not yet scored a left-footed goal. Saido Berahino, a right-footed striker has netted 7 times for them while Dawson, Dorrans, Anichebe, Sessegnon and Morrison scored a goal piece. But unfortunately, none of them could send a left-footed strike to the back of the net.
3. Crystal Palace : An ugly backline
After Tony Pulis’ exit, the Eagles are really suffering a lot and currently sit just above the relegation zone in the league table. Till now, they have committed as many as 150 fouls in 11 matches, thereby claiming the top spot in this regard. Also, they have conceded more set piece goals (7) than any other Premier League team this season. It seems that Liverpool supporters can hope for a Steven Gerrard penalty to help them win.
4. Newcastle United : Remember, remember; the month of November!
Harry Redknapp must be very scared at the moment, if he believes in the history. Queens Park Rangers is going to face Newcastle United this week. And history says that the Magpies won all four of their Premier League games in November last season and have won both so far this month. Last week, they defeated West Bromwich thanks to a Ayoze Perez strike and a Coloccini header and they will look forward to continue their November run this Saturday.
5. Mario Balotelli : Shots, shots everywhere; not a drop in goal
The Liverpool frontman has played 8 games so far and sits third in the list of highest number of shots per game. He has fired 3.9 shots per game, only behind Sergio Aguero (5.2) and Graziano Pelle (4.3), but he never found his name on the scoresheet so far. For the record, Balotelli is the only one in top 18 of the list who has not yet scored.
6. Wayne Rooney : The Nemesis
Arsenal is going to take on Manchester United and Arsene Wenger must have some special arrangement ready for Wayne Rooney. Just one goal from the United skipper will see him overtake Robbie Fowler to become the highest Premier League goalscorer against Arsenal. Rooney is currently on 10 league goals against the Gunners with two for Everton and eight for Manchester United.
