You must be knowing the feeling if you are into Poker, the addictive card game. You’re dying to play a little poker but the regular job is always coming in the way.
Brazillian superstar Ronaldo and the tennis enigma Rafael Nadal know exactly how this feels. Last Decemeber, both of them played in the European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague Charity Challenge where Nadal won against Ronaldo and Daniel Negreanu, one of the best and most popular poker players in the world. But the story did not end there. Ronaldo has already challenged Nadal to a re-match that will prove essential viewing later this year – a live head to head contest that everyone is calling “The Duel”.
“The Duel” between the two PokerStars ambassadors will take place in London on November 6, with a live broadcast and coverage provided by PokerStars.
Though this is going to be more of a revenge match for Ronaldo, who is aiming to put the record straight, his task will not exactly be easy. It might have been a while since Rafa last got his hands on some chips and cards at a competitive level, but his will to win has always been unrivalled and this is what you would always expect from someone with 14 Grand Slam titles to his name.
“It was my first live poker tournament when I last played against Ronaldo and one year later I’m more confident with my skill level,” said Rafa, only a few days ago. “I really enjoy playing poker and the challenge of learning as quickly as possible, so I can’t wait to get back to training on my game and to play against Ronaldo.”
To keep up with the verbal battle, Ronaldo added, “The last time we played together Rafa won and it was a lot of fun. This time it will be different, though, because I have been improving on my poker strategy and will be more prepared.”
Nadal has already started honing his bluffing skills and tweeted about his preparations a few hours ago. You can watch a video of his preparations here.

We seldom get opportunities to see two greats from two different sports face each other in a different game altogether. But when we do, we cannot wait to see it happen. It seems to us that we have all the ingredients for a thrilling contest – two great figures, a little bit of a grudge, and TV cameras to beam it live to a worldwide audience. We just have to hold our breaths for a few more days.
