Team-mates react to De Gea’s performance

David James is a long-term admirer of David de Gea

It is really too early to say whether Manchester United can eventually go on to win this year’s Premier League but we can definitely say that the team has been in really good form. The Red Devils have now climbed up to the fourth spot after goals from Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao helped them win 2-1 against Everton FC yesterday.

But, the story would have been entirely different had there been no David De Gea between the sticks. The United goal-keeper was in amazing form yesterday. It started from a penalty kick after Luke Shaw fouled Everton wingback Hibbert inside the box. One of the best penalty takers of the league, Leighton Baines, stepped up immediately to put his team level but his left-footed shot could not touch the net as De Gea guessed it correctly and made a brilliant save right before the half-time.

Though Steven Naismith defeated De Gea early in the second half, last twenty minutes of the game saw some amazing stuff from the Spaniard. His acrobatics saved the day for Manchester United and rightly enough, he was adjudged Man of the Match by our fans. His team-mates and friends were extremely happy to see his performance and took no time to praise the man.

First one in the list is Luke Shaw, the defender who conceded the penalty. He was much relieved that his blunder did not cost United the game.

Juan Mata returned to the team since Wayne Rooney missed the match due to the red card in the last match and he took a selfie with his compatriot and posted in twitter.

Another Manchester United player Ashley Young also tweeted about this after the match.

Diego Capel, a Spanish footballer who plays for Sporting Club de Portugal, said “For you brother when you can be that crazy”.

And finally, the man of the hour could not stop himself from expressing his joy. Here is his tweet after the match.
