This week, all of the four top teams are going to face tough opponents. League leaders Chelsea, currently playing some amazing football, will aim to put an end to the unbeaten run of fourth-placed Arsenal while Southampton travels to the White Hart Lane and Manchester City are on a testing trip to Aston Villa. On the other hand, rejuvenated Manchester United will host Everton but they are going to miss the services of their captain Wayne Rooney, owing to a red card last week. Liverpool are still in search of their top form and after two back to back defeats, will try to bounce back against West Bromwich Albion. Elsewhere, Hull City will face Crystal Palace, Swansea are going to host Newcastle, Stoke City will pay a trip to Sunderland and newly promoted Leicester and Burnley will go head to head. Finally, in the last match of the week, West Ham meets Queens Park Rangers.
We will discuss the squads and will look into the recent injuries, the suspensions and the possible tactics that may help the fantasy premier league managers this week.
None of the top teams can guarantee a clean sheet this week and the managers should rely on the defenders from other teams like Hull City, Swansea, West Ham or Stoke City. Choosing your goal-keeper might be a tough task but Begovic, McGregor or Speroni, Forster are possible choices.
So far as the defenders are concerned, along with regular choices Ivanovic, Clyne, Rose; one can go for Zabaleta too. Keeping Aston Villa’s current form and his attacking mentality in mind, one can hope that the Manchester City defender will collect some points from both ends. Duff has been a good choice so far and he is the main reason behind Burnley’s premier league record. Besides, the managers can also think of transferring Shawcross or Pieters in their team since they will have a not-so-difficult fixture in coming weeks.
Among popular choices, Ramsey and Herrera are suffering from injuries and so, people will want to transfer them out. Possible choices to buy in are Chadli, Schneiderlin or Di Maria; all of whom have been in amazing form and have a relatively easier fixture ahead. Besides, Willian, Jedinak and Puncheon are also getting goals of late and can prove to be cost-effective for the fantasy managers.
As usual, Cesc Fabregas, Raheem Sterling, Gylfi Sigurdsson or premier league’s best crosser Stewart Downing look poised to chalk up some points once again. However, among all these high-priced midfielders, Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil deserve special mention. Both of them were in spectacular form in midweek’s Champions League fixture against Galatasaray and their performances will be crucial this week.
Red Devils captain has not only put his team in danger but also caused trouble for lots of fantasy managers since he was the third most popular choice. In our opinion, the best option to substitute Rooney is Edin Dzeko, who scored a brace last week and should find the net against an out-of-sort Aston Villa who conceded 6 goals in last two matches. On the other hand, Danny Welbeck got his first hat-trick for the gunners in the last match and is in good touch. The managers can also consider United’s new recruit Falcao or the flying Dutchman Van Persie, both of whom will have big responsibilities in the absence of Wayne Rooney.
Diego Costa, this summer’s best signing so far, is expected to continue his dream run and so is Pelle, who has scored scored four goals and assisted once in the last four matches. Manchester City frontman Sergio Aguero can also rack up quite a few points in coming weeks. Ulloa, Berahino and Naismith are as always, good and cheap third choice strikers.
Dzeko or Aguero will probably be the best choice to consider as the captain. However, one can also go with Di Maria or Welbeck, keeping their amazing form in mind.
If one has Ramsey, Herrera or Rooney, a substitution is imminent and as we have mentioned already, best choices are Sanchez, Ozil, Chadli or Welbeck, Dzeko and Pelle.
