5 best tweets on first Super Over of Oppo Champions League 2014

First super over of this year’s Champions League T20 and Cape Cobras emerge victorious in the end, thanks to an all-round performance from Sybrand Engelbrecht.

After being sent to bat first, Barbados Tridents piled up 174 runs, Dilshan Munaweera (42) and Jonathan Carter (111) being the main contributors. Engelbrecht bowled brilliantly to claim 2 wickets at the cost of only 24 runs from his 4 overs. Cobras started the chase pretty well with Richard Levi (39) and Hashim Amla (59) playing some good shots but Jeevan Mendis brought his team back on track with four wickets and then it was Engelbrecht once again. He scored 19 valuable runs from 10 balls and the match was tied.

Levi and Vilas started the Super Over for the Cobras and the duo scored 11 runs in that over. Finally, Engelbrecht, trusted with the ball once again, bowled six good deliveries and restricted the opponents to 10 runs only. The South African was rightly adjudged the Man of the Match and here are the five best tweets on this match.

West Indian cricketer Ian Bishop experienced the electrifying atmosphere at Mohali and right after the match, tweeted:

Harsha Bhogle was surprised to see a spinner bowling the Super Over for a South African team.

Former English county cricketer Alan Wilkins praised the man of the match in Twitter.

IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders team also watched the nail-biting contest and here is the tweet from the team’s official page.

Finally, South African speedster Dale Steyn was overwhelmed to see his compatriot’s all-round performance and congratulated Engelbrecht.
