Amidst all Champions League hustle, the fifth gameweek of the Premier League has arrived and as usual, we look into the fixtures to help the fantasy managers. This week, all of the top five teams face tough opponents. After the curtain raiser between Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City, Aston Villa and Swansea will welcome Arsenal and Southampton respectively. Liverpool, on the other hand, have suffered a surprise defeat to Villa last week and drew level with Ludogorets in their first match of the Champions League and seem not to be able to get over their frontman Sturridge’s injury and will have a testing trip to West Ham. Elsewhere on Saturday, Burnley welcomes Sunderland and Hull pays a visit to Newcastle as Sean Dyche, Gus Poyet and Alan Pardew try to secure their job.
On Sunday, Manchester United, who have finally started finding their top forms, should win comfortably against Leicester. Besides, Spurs and Everton, enjoying home comfort on Sunday, look poised to win against West Bromwich and Crystal Palace. In the showdown, Chelsea and Manchester City, two of the biggest names of the league, go head-to-head.
The fixtures suggest that United, Everton and Tottenham should finish this week with flying colors without conceding a single goal. The other top flight teams, as have already been mentioned, are looking for a difficult week while bottom dwellers Burnley can get a consecutive third clean sheet of the season.
Going with De Gea (5.5) is possibly the best idea at the moment. Lloris (5.6), McGregor (5.0) and Forster (5.0) are other choices, keeping next few gameweeks in mind. Besides, Guzan (4.6), after conceding only once in the first four weeks, have showed great resilience so far and can manage to hold on to a surprise clean sheet once again.
Besides regular choices like Ivanovic (7.2), Dier (5.5), Rose (5.0), Baines (6.9), Clyne (5.2) or Janmaat (5.0), we would like to mention the names of Moreno (5.6) and Senderos (4.5), both of whom, along with defending well, have always troubled the opponent goal-keeper and can score more than once in the next few weeks. Duff and Hutton, both priced at 4.1, are really good and cheap options for the managers.
The midfield trio of Herrera (7.3), Di Maria (9.7) and Mata (8.8) grabbed a goal apiece last week and promise to score again. However, the Spaniard’s inclusion might be jeopardized if Louis Van Gaal wants to see Falcao upfront. On the other hand, Stewart Downing (5.5) is slowly becoming the most promising midfielder of the league. Recent forms also suggest that Mirallas (7.4), with goals in last two weeks, will be a good choice for the managers.
Regular choices like Fabregas (9.4), Sterling (8.8) and Sanchez (10.4) are in good form. However, next few weeks presenting a difficult fixture to the Swans, one may choose to transfer Sigurdsson out and buy Downing or Matic (5.5) in.
Diego Costa (10.8) scored a hat-trick last week and has now scored 7 goals in the first four matches. He is proving to be the best summer signing of the league. Another popular choice Rooney (10.4) is also performing well and should rack up a lot of points in the next four weeks as an easy fixture is ahead. Besides, the managers must consider Pelle (7.6) who has found the net thrice in the last two matches.
Enner Valencia (6.9) has finally come out of the injury and started last week for the Hammers. He marked his beginning with an astounding goal. Other debutant of the match Abel Hernandez (7.0) also scored and they are good options to consider. Ulloa (5.6), Wickham (5.9) and Austin (5.9), in addition to Naismith (5.6), Weimann (5.6) and Berahino (5.6), are some of the budget-friendly choices for the third forward.
Next four weeks will present some easy fixture for the Red Devils and so, Rojo (6.0) should provide points from both ends of the pitch. His teammate and another new signing Di Maria has been handed his favorite role on the flanks and is expected to score and assist regularly.
The Champions League has already started and four weeks have passed. So, in our opinion, this time of the year may be considered as the best to use the wildcard if someone has not yet used it. Remember that, another wildcard option will be provided in January.
Regarding choosing the captain, Rooney is probably the best choice once again since Costa will be playing Manchester City while the United captain will face an easy Leicester defense. Among others, one may consider Lukaku, Pelle or can play a gamble with Baines.
