We could have a great five-a-side team. My dad still plays. My mum could be manager.
Amazing dialogue, isn’t it? As soon as you realize that someone is talking about his family, you will know that the sport runs through their genes. And you will probably fall off the chair once I tell you that the statement was made by none other than Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard.
Any football fan must be familiar with the Belgian’s skills but very few know that football has always been in the Hazard blood.
Eden Hazard has been phenomenal for his club as well as for his country and won the PFA young player of the season in 2013/14. He was also a crucial player in the Belgium squad and glimpses of his genius mesmerized everybody.
The eldest son Eden is 23 years old. His brother Thorgan, two years younger to Eden, is also a winger and is already at Chelsea. He is currently playing for Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach on loan. The starlet has already proved his worth and should expect more first team experience in the international level.
Thorgan used to play for Zulte Waregem in the Belgian pro league, the club now his younger brother Kylian plays for. 19 year old Kylian is an attacking midfielder and hope to feature in the club’s starting eleven.
However, in spite of the presence of three amazing footballers currently playing for reputed clubs, some days ago, when Eden was asked about the best player in his family, promptly he mentioned his mother Carine’s name. According to him, his mother was quite a striker and in his opinion, he takes after his mother as a player. Carine Hazard played in the Belgian Women’s First Division and continued playing until she was three months pregnant with Eden. On the other hand, Carine’s spouse Thierry, a defensive midfielder, spent most of his career playing at semi-professional level with La Louvière in the Belgian Second Division. Now-a-days, both are professional sports teachers.
Finally, to add to the above list, the youngest son of Carine and Thierry, 11 year old Ethan is also a budding talent and is believed to be pretty decent with the ball.
In near future, we expect to see Eden and Thorgan play together for the same club and in the international level too and we hope the other two will pick up the baton soon enough. However, as of now, the Hazards will probably form the best and most colourful five-a-side (or, even six-a-side) team in the history of football. Eden is really grateful to his parents and believes their genes are responsible for his talent and skill. To quote him,
Actually, I like to think that I am a mix of the best of them.
