The latest transfer window has seen many big names like Drogba and Fabregas return to Premier League while some other stars including Angel Di Maria, Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao have also joined English clubs to enjoy a more competitive league. On a relevant note, there is a huge speculation whether the 2014 Ballon d’ Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo will also choose to return to Manchester United in near future. Based on some recent incidents, we delve into this matter and discuss whether he would eventually decide to leave Real Madrid and join the Red Devils.
Attraction for the parent club :
“I really did love being at Manchester United,” Cristiano Ronaldo admitted just the other day. Besides, he is also very fond of new coach Louis Van Gaal and believes that the Dutchman will guide United to glory once again, something we also discussed before the start of the season. On the other hand, he has maintained good relationship with some of the club’s oldest players all these years. That, along with the warm love of the supporters, should play a pivotal role to bring him back.
Problems with the Real Madrid Management :
A couple of days ago, at a promotional event, Ronaldo admitted that he was really baffled and unhappy with the club’s transfer policies, possibly pointing to the transfer of Di Maria. Though Real Madrid president Florentino Perez claimed of no rift between himself and the star, no one can deny that Cristiano never wanted Di Maria to leave the club. A growing contention with the management and the coach will definitely work in favor of the Red Devils.
Di Maria and Falcao :
As we have already mentioned, the Portuguese international wanted to play with Angel Di Maria. The Argentine was the main architect in the midfield for Los Blancos and topped last season’s list of highest assists in La Liga. Many of Ronaldo’s goals came from his passes and the opportunity to reunite with the former teammate may be enough to attract the ex-United winger.
Furthermore, long time Real Madrid target Radamel Falcao has joined Manchester United on a season-long loan and may permanently join the Old Trafford side at the end of this season. Cristiano repeatedly praised the Colombian for his striking abilities and should he join United, the trio may form a formidable attack upfront, with the likes of Rooney, Mata and Van Persie on their side.
Star-studded Real Madrid team :
This summer, the galacticos have signed James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Chicharito to strengthen their attack. With a lot of exceptionally good players like Bale, Benzema, Isco, Modric already in the team, the competition to make the first eleven has increased manifold. After Angel Di Maria, Xabi Alonso, possibly giving in to the fear of not getting too many chances, has also departed Santiago Bernabeu and joined Bayern Munchen. Although Ronaldo is still their best player and coach’s first choice striker, no one knows whether things will remain the same, considering that the star is clearly dissatisfied with some of the coach’s decisions in recent past. Hence, the Portuguese may (or, should) come back to Manchester to avoid any unwanted problem in his illustrious career.
More competitive league :
Of late, with relatively small budget teams like Everton, Tottenham or Southampton playing wonderful football, the league has become too competitive. On the contrary, La Liga has been a three-dimensional championship so far. Ronaldo, having already won the Spanish titles and the Champions League with the galacticos, might find La Liga less demanding in coming years and so, should never miss this opportunity to prove his worth in a more competitive environment as someone has aptly said, “A monopoly renders people complacent and satisfied with mediocrity.”
We think Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the best player in the world, should return to Manchester United but whether he would, can only be revealed by the future. Till then, the Red Devils’ fans will keep fingers crossed for their talisman’s return in 2015.For extensive read, go through this article to see what our friends at Soccer-acme think of Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United.
