Manchester City is set to sign Monaco star Radamel Falcao this weekend, according to sources. The Colombia international has been strongly linked with a move this season from Monaco; having fully recovered from his knee injury that kept him out of the World cup. But, only a few could expect that Manuel Pellegrini would crave for another striker despite having a rich attacking line up consisting of Aguero, Negredo, Jovetic and Dzeko.
There were several rumors throughout the summer that Falcao will move to Real Madrid or Arsenal or City. Real is not anymore looking for any new signing this summer. Arsenal needed a striker mostly; as Giroud is suspected to be out of pitch till Christmas, leaving their new-signing Sanchez as their sole experienced central forward. But it seems that the deal of Wenger has been overtrumped by City.
It is speculated that Alvaro Negredo, who is now sidelined with injury could join La Liga side Valencia to make way for Falcao’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium. Negredo had a fine debut campaign with the Citizens, scoring 23 goals in 48 appearances. But, few can argue that Falcao is a class above.
In other news, Mourinho has bagged QPR striker Loic Remy as Torres moves on to San Siro for a two year long loan. Stamford bridge outfits contacted Rangers hours after the news of the Spaniard; and the Blues agreed a deal for Remy after meeting his 8 million release clause. The France striker was close to joining Liverpool this July, but the deal collapsed as he flew to US for a medical. Harry Redknapp was keen for him to stay in the Loftus Road, but Remy has shown desire to play for a Champions League club.
Rangers meanwhile are set to sign former Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra, who will have his medical this weekend. Also, Daniel Agger has been released from Liverpool to play for his former club Brondby for an undisclosed fee and Arsenal is planning to sign Borussia Dortmund center back Sokratis Papasthopoulos before the close of this transfer window.
