While talks on the terms for Mehdi Benatia’s transfer are still on, Roma have reached an accord with Olympiakos for Konstantinos Manolas. They now just have to wait for Benatia deal to be done to get his replacement Manolas on board.
According to reports, the agreement has been on the basis of 13 million euros. Manolas will sign a 5-year deal.
However, sources suggest that the Benatia deal might not be completed with Bayern though the Moroccan defender had expressed his wishes to join the German champions earlier last week. Bayern Munich have offered 24 million pounds for the defender, desperate to make up for the acute injury that Xavi Martinez picked up in the Borussia Dortmund match, but it is possible that Roma chiefs are unhappy with the offer.
Roma directors Mauro Baldissoni and Walter Sabatini meanwhile travelled to England last week and held talks with Arsenal and Manchester United, according to reports.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger plans to add another defender to his ranks following departure of Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona, with Benatia and Toby Alderwield (Athletico Madrid) being his top choices.
Benatia made 33 appearances for Roma last season finding the net 5 times.
